Glorifying God

“I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.” (Ps.86:12)

For those of us who are called by the name of the Lord, our sole purpose in life is to glorify Him. All that we say, do, or think should bring glory to His Name. God is a great big God. He is sovereign and He is an awesome God. All glory and praise belongs to Him.

All along this journey of freedom that I have been walking with the Lord, I have endeavored to bring Him glory.  All that I do is for His great Name’s sake.  “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt.5:16) We are to live for God in such a way that people see our lives as a reflection of Jesus Christ. Jesus brought glory to God all of His life and wants us to do the same in our actions and attitudes and plans.

God wants us as the body of Christ to be of one mind and purpose and that is this, “That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Rom.15:6) He wants all of His children to glorify Him. We were created to bring Him glory. To show forth His praise. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Cor.6:20) God redeemed us (bought us back) through His Son, Jesus Christ at enormous cost. We are therefore to give Him and bring Him glory, in all that we say and do.

“All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.” (Ps.86:9) Oh, Lord, let me glorify Thy Name. I praise You and give You all of the honor due to You. Let me life be a reflection of You and Your love for me. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
